Johan Toll is Vice President and Head of Digital Assets and New Markets Product Lines at Nasdaq. Johan joined the company in December 2007, responsible for the connectivity strategy of OMX, later Nasdaq OMX. Later the duties evolved into covering the Trading and Post Trade offerings, focusing on the business strategy of Market Technology and leading the product management group. In 2015, Johan became responsible for the blockchain strategy and related offerings of Market Technology. He has been a key driver behind some of the most notable recent Blockchain initiatives presented by Nasdaq in recent years, including the cooperation with SEB to provide a settlement platform for the Nordic mutual fund market based on blockchain technology and the sale of blockchain-enabled solutions to marketplaces globally.
In October 2017, Johan received his first approved blockchain patent in the US (US 9,794,074 B2). In May 2018, Johan was awarded the “FinTech Person of the Year” from the Financial Technology Forum (FTF) News Technology Innovation Awards for his expertise and developments on blockchain integration with the Nasdaq Financial Framework and multiple successful blockchain projects in the FinTech space. About a year later, in June 2019, he helped launch the Nasdaq Digital Assets suite, which focuses on serving incumbents and start-ups with a service offering covering the whole digital assets lifecycle.
Johan joined NASDAQ from Sungard (FRONT ARENA), where he led a global team responsible for the core platform of FRONT ARENA Order Management System. One notable achievement was the development of a service bus that was utilized across the SunGard globally.
Johan holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management at Linköping University, Sweden.
